1988 Honda Elite ES w/ AF16 Engine (50cc)

This 1988 Honda Elite ES is absolutely adorable and has been upgraded with a stock Honda AF16 engine and more! Overall, the body is in above average condition and the handlebar cover isn't even broken! There are general scuffs, scratches, and fading from age and use during the scoot's 2972 miles of use. We've put a few hundred miles on the current setup dialing it in and using it for shop errands.

This scoot is super light and super low to the ground even with the added wheelbase. The AF16 engine installed is still a two stroke engine and has the stock oil pump still installed, so you just need to top off the oil tank and it will directly inject the oil. There is no need to pre-mix with the current setup.

The scoot is quite slow to takeoff, but will zip along once it passes about 5mph all the way to about 40mph before losing steam. It also really likes to warm up for a minute before being driven. This wouldn't be the best scoot for a new rider and is definitely best suited for someone who's familiar with these little Elites. The stock AF16 has a ton of upgrade options for you to use this as a project platform, too.

Here's a rundown of all of the repairs and changes we made to this over the past few years:

  • Honda SE50 Front Forks / Steering Stem installed (allows for the current 3.00 wide tire and larger brake from an SA50)
  • AF16 Shock Mount from ScooterSwapShop
  • Forsa rear adjustable shock
  • AF16 Motor Mount (modified to fit the SB50 frame)
  • White Honda Elite SA50 Rims (front and rear)
  • Pirelli Angel 3.00-10 tires and new tubes front and rear
  • Honda SA50 front brake / speedometer hub
  • Honda SA50 Rear brake cable
  • Honda SA50 speedometer cable
  • Stock AF16 complete engine installed. (Had SR oil pump on it)
  • Wired into stock SB50 wire harness connectors (It's not "spliced in", so it could be returned for use in an SA50 again. Pretty sure the CDI and voltage regulator were swapped too, but can't confirm)
  • New stock size roller weights inside stock variator (without restricting ramp)
  • New S23 Drive Belt (less than 10 miles)
  • Stock Honda SA50 clutch
  • Honda SA50 throttle cable with split cable for oil pump
  • Stock Honda SA50 Carburetor (fully cleaned with new gaskets)
  • Honda SA50 air box (cut down to fit without hitting the plastics. The rubber intake is very stiff and may need replaced in the future) 
  • Replaced left and right crankshaft oil seals (might be time for the oil pump seal to be replaced)
  • Replaced gear oil
  • New battery
  • Increased the length of the center stand to allow it to still function in the stock frame location
  • New seat cover
  • Fully cleaned entire frame, engine, plastics, etc
